Who’s behind RIFF SHIFT?
RIFF SHIFT initiator and editor-in-chief was born and raised in Vienna, Austria. She graduated in Journalism & Communication Studies and Musicology. Currently, she is doing her master degree in Applied Musicology in the Netherlands. During her time in Dublin (IE) she embraced the lively local music scene and became determined to support local artists back home in Vienna as well as to enhance subcultural exchange by maintaining this blog. She also writes for skug magazine, Austria’s longest existing journal for anti-mainstream music, film, art and literature, and makes music.
Lukas, who spent his childhood in and around Vienna, discovered his love for music very early. It was through Rammstein that he experienced a more intense way of listening to music, as well as developing a special regard for drums. Apart from learning the instrument himself, he studied Instrumental and Vocal Education at the Vienna Music Institute (VMI).
Currently, Lukas is studying Musicology at the University of Vienna and is involved with local radio Ö1.
